
Fellowships
The Jonsson School offers some merit-based fellowships to graduate students throughout the year. Each fellowship may have specific requirements based on the purpose of the fellowship; however, the Jonsson School Graduate Fellowship Committee will consider applicants for all available fellowships.
For fellowships listed below, please read the criteria and requirements very carefully to ensure you meet the qualifications. Please DO NOT SUBMIT multiple applications unless you are applying for the Jonsson School $1,000 Graduate Study Scholarship, or the Texas Instruments Analog Excellence Graduate Fellowship, for which there are separate applications given below.
For all other fellowships applicants only need to submit one online graduate application.

This fellowship was established for promoting doctoral education in the Jonsson school at UT Dallas. Merit-based fellowship for doctoral students in the Jonsson School with competitive academic record and who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Students may apply for renewal of this fellowship for up to 3 years with a competitive GPA and good progress towards the doctoral degree.

This endowment was created to memorialize Professor Jan P. van der Ziel. will be awarded to doctoral student(s) in Engineering programs. Students may apply for renewal of this fellowship for upto 3 years with a competitive GPA and good progress towards the doctoral degree.

- Must maintain 3.6 minimum GPA and make good progress towards the doctoral degree to renew

Criteria
- Applicants may be incoming or current UT Dallas students.
- Applicants may be full-time or part-time students.
- Applicants must be pursuing a graduate degree in engineering or computer science in the Jonsson School.
- Applicants must demonstrate high academic achievement.
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens U.S. permanent residents or international students
- Among equally qualified applicants, preference will be given to students who 1.)received an undergraduate degree in Pakistan; 2.) completed two or more Urdu language classes during their secondary education or 3.) who are active in the Pakistani Students Association.The Pakistani Students Association is a registered student organization at UT Dallas. By university policy, all registered student organizations are prohibited from unlawful discrimination, including harassment, on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, age, disability, citizenship, sexual orientation and veteran status. Fellowship recipients may compete for a second year of funding, provided they are in good academic standing with UT Dallas. Recipients seeking a second year of funding must reapply through the fellowship committee.

This scholarship was established to honor Mr. Phil Ritter for his leadership in advancing The Jonsson School and UT Dallas in the drive to achieve Tier One research status. Merit-based scholarship for graduate students in ECS with 3.5 minimum cumulative GPA, who also demonstrate interest in research areas with high potential for business, health, and/or social impact.

These $1,000 competitive, merit-based scholarships are awarded to incoming graduate students. Scholarships are subject to the availability of funds and are renewable at the discretion of the academic department in which the recipients are studying.

Criteria
- All MS students and PhD students entering the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science in Fall 2021 are eligible to apply.
- The application deadline for Fall 2021 scholarships is May 15. Fall 2021 scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis, and students are encouraged to apply early.
Texas Instruments Analog Excellence Graduate Fellowship Open >>
TxACE offers the TI Analog Excellence Graduate Fellowship to a full-time graduate student who is interested in pursuing PhD research in analog circuit design and engineering at UT Dallas. The awardee will receive a fellowship of $25,000/year in addition to a research assistantship (RA) appointment sponsored by a UTD faculty member that carries additional stipends and a tuition/fee waiver for a full-time graduate load. The total award amount is approximately $70,000/year. Duration of the award is four years provided good standing at UT Dallas. This fellowship will provide an outstanding research and educational opportunity for students with potential for achievements at the highest level and is available to students who have applied for admission to a PhD degree program for the Fall semester in the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at UT Dallas.
The review of applications will start from January and continue till April. Application will be emailed to Donna Kuchinski and cc to Bilal Akin by a TxACE affiliated faculty member. Please mention “Application for TxACE Promising Researcher Awards” in the e-mail subject line. The application package must contain:

- Applicants must be enrolled full-time and pursuing a PhD in electrical engineering in the Jonsson School.
- Applicant’s graduate research must focus on analog circuit design and engineering.
- Applicants must have a minimum 3.5 overall GPA.
- Applicants must be U.S. Citizen or permanent residents.
- Among equally qualified applicants, preference may be given to an applicant(s) with:
- a higher GPA in courses related to the applicant’s major,
- acknowledgement on published papers and/or
- previous participation in an internship focused on analog technology.
- At the committee’s discretion, fellowship recipients may compete for a second year of funding, provided they are in good standing with UT Dallas. Recipients seeking a second year of funding must reapply through the Jonsson School.
- At the committee’s discretion, fellowships may be used for tuition, fees, stipends, or other educational expenses related to the recipient’s education.
- Recipients must sign a release form, in accordance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), allowing UT Dallas to use application material for fellowship purposes.
