Jonsson School Spotlights Stellar Faculty,

Faculty, staff and graduate teaching assistants in the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science celebrated the end of a successful 2022-2023 academic year at the annual Schoolwide Meeting and Awards Ceremony on May 5, 2023.

Dr. Stephanie G. Adams, Jonsson School dean, had named the year as the Year of Gratitude. At the beginning of the year, Jonsson School employees each received a rock inscribed with the word “Gratitude” as a reminder of gratitude for all who keep the school going. The Jonsson School experienced another year of rapid growth, so at the meeting, Adams said that more than 20 faculty positions will be added in the fall of 2023. She also announced the winning name in the Jonsson School’s magazine naming competition, “Voyager”. The name Voyager was suggested by Sayantan Kundu, computer science graduate student.

School leaders including Elaine Pearson, associate dean of administration, and Dr. John Hansen, associate dean for research, recognized leaders across the Jonsson School for their efforts in and outside of the classroom. Faculty were recognized for their work as top researchers and for their excellence in teaching. The University of Texas at Dallas also honored top PhD students and faculty, so these award winners were recognized at the schoolwide awards event.
