Inclusive Excellence

What We Believe
Engineering and computer science are two inherently creative fields that shape modern society in countless ways. From transportation to communication, medicine to entertainment, engineering and computer science play an integral role in our daily lives. These disciplines require innovative thinking and problem-solving skills to develop new technologies and systems that make our lives better. However, creativity is not just a product of technical skills and knowledge. It also comes from lived experiences, various perspectives, and collaborative teamwork. That’s why we believe that an inclusive group of people must be involved in creating solutions for our fields to continue benefiting the most people. At the Jonsson School, we strive to establish a welcoming environment where inclusiveness is the norm for all students, staff, faculty, and visitors.
We recognize that our community should reflect the inclusiveness of our nation and our field. As a public institution funded by taxpayers’ dollars, we have an obligation to provide educational and employment opportunities to the people of Texas. That’s why we are actively working to build a culture that values inclusivity and provides equitable access to resources and opportunities.
Our commitment to inclusivity extends beyond numbers and statistics. We want to create an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported. We want to foster a culture of open-mindedness, curiosity, and collaboration that allows us to explore new ideas and push the boundaries of what is possible.
We invite you to join us on this journey. Whether you are a student, staff, faculty member, or visitor, we welcome your ideas, feedback, and contributions. Together, we can build a brighter future for our fields, our community, and our world.
