The Jonsson School Graduate Open House

8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The Jonsson School Graduate Open House functions as a graduate program preview for prospective students, including undergraduate and graduate students. The event provides an opportunity to learn about what the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science has to offer.

All are welcome!

Participants will engage with faculty, staff and current students from the Jonsson School to learn about research, admissions and the student experience. The event’s goal is to provide various opportunities to learn about our college and ask questions most important to any prospective graduate students.

Registration is required.

All attendees will receive an application fee waiver for their first choice of graduate programs at the Jonsson School (waiver amount not to exceed $50).

Check in at the Engineering and Computer Science West Building room 1.315 (Clark Auditorium).

How to Apply

Thank you for your interest in the Graduate Open House at the Jonsson School. Please take a few minutes to read the information below.

The 2024 application is open

Priority deadline: Sept. 20, 2024

Final deadline: Oct. 11, 2024

Space is limited. Apply by the priority deadline for priority consideration. Travel awards available.

To qualify for an invitation to attend:

  • Be a rising junior/senior undergraduate student (post-baccalaureate and/or graduate students are also eligible)
  • Be a U.S. citizen (or permanent resident/DACA recipient) OR studying in the U.S.
  • Achieved a 3.0 GPA or higher for all college work
  • If requesting travel funds:
    • Email an unofficial transcript
    • Provide a short (two-three sentences) statement indicating your research interest (Hint: If applicable, reference any Jonsson School faculty with whom you would like to work)
    • Send email to ecs-grad@utdallas.edu
Travel Funding

Travel support will be available to qualified applicants on a competitive basis. Apply early as funds are limited! Travel awards are not available for international students or those currently studying/living in the DFW area.

Applicants will be considered for funding based on the following criteria:

  • Early event application
  • Academically competitive
  • U.S. citizen (or permanent resident/DACA recipient)
  • Plans to start graduate school in fall 2025
  • Unofficial transcript and short statement about research interest

Please send transcript and research interest to ecs-grad@utdallas.edu. Award amount can vary, based on how thoroughly students meet the above criteria, but award will not exceed $500. Travel support can help cover students’ hotel stay, airfare, mileage or other travel expenses. Students will be notified of any awarded funds at the time of acceptance to the event.
