Goldman Sachs Terrace Opening Draws a Crowd

More than 200 students and campus leaders from The University of Texas at Dallas gathered in the outdoor courtyard of the Engineering and Computer Science West building to celebrate the grand opening of the Goldman Sachs Terrace on March 28, 2022. Goldman Sachs has sponsored six scholarships for computer science students at the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science, in addition to sponsoring UT Dallas student organizations including the UTD Women’s Summit, HackUTD and UT Dallas’ chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). The Goldman Sachs Terrace was named at the Jonsson School’s newest building in honor of the company’s contributions toward New Dimensions: the Campaign for UT Dallas.

The afternoon event provided an opportunity to take a study break and to learn about internship opportunities.
Free swag! Goldman Sachs representatives provided t-shirts, cups and other giveaway items. Students enjoyed food, games and music provided by RadioUTD.
Students enjoyed skee ball and a raffle for prizes prior to networking.
The ECS-W Courtyard was transformed into a full-scale arena! Goldman Sachs provided outdoor games and much more for students.
Dean Adams enjoyed meeting with students after delivering remarks.
Students from a variety of engineering disciplines along with friends from other UT Dallas schools including the Jindal School of Management visited with Goldman Sachs representatives about career and internship opportunities.

Brittany Huber from the Jonsson School’s Development and Alumni Relations team highlighted the importance of supporting and growing programs today through philanthropy so that future students and the University will reap the benefits many years from now.
Ram Narayanan, head of Texas Engineering at Goldman Sachs, serves on the Jonsson School’s Executive Council. Wearing a Goldman Sachs Engineering hoodie, he informed students about the six Goldman Sachs scholarships available to UT Dallas computer science students.
Goldman Sachs executive Stephanie Cohen welcomed students, highlighted the importance of partnerships between universities and companies and discussed opportunities available for engineers as jobs continue to increase in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Jonsson School Dean Stephanie G. Adams thanked Goldman Sachs for hosting the opening and for their partnership with the Jonsson School. “At UT Dallas, while we are preparing students to go anywhere, we are also fueling the economic engine of DFW,” Adams said.
