Welcome to Jonsson School Advising

In the Jonsson School, we have two teams of advisors: “First Year Here” advisors and “Upper Class” advisors. If this is your first year at The University of Texas at Dallas, you will be advised by a member of our “First Year Here” team during your first full year at UTD. If you are not new to UTD, you will be advised by a member of our “Upper Class” advising team who work with students from their second year at UTD through to graduation. You can find your assigned advisor in the Polaris Student Portal.

Scheduling an Appointment

The new Polaris Student Portal makes scheduling advising meetings and support appointments easier than ever and will also feature other tools to support your success at UT Dallas. Beginning Jan. 7, current students interested in meeting their assigned advisor should schedule an appointment in their Polaris Student Portal.

To Schedule an Advising Appointment:

• Log on to the Polaris Student Portal
• Click on the orange “Schedule Appointment” button
• Under “Assigned to You” your advisor will be the first listed. Click on your advisor’s name and follow the prompts for making an appointment.

Polaris: UTD’S New Student Portal

We’re excited to announce Polaris, a new tool designed to make connecting with academic advisors and support services easier than ever. 

 Current students are able to: 

• Schedule appointments with your Student Success Team, including your  academic advisor or additional support services at the University
• Complete assigned tasks to stay on track with advising requirements 
• Access helpful links and resources for your academic success 

Beginning Jan. 7, students interested in meeting with their assigned advisor should schedule an appointment in their Polaris Student Portal.

Important: Polaris will not replace Orion. You’ll still use Orion for class registration, grades, financial aid, and billing. Polaris connects you to your Student Success Team and tools to keep you on track.
