Judging Criteria
The submissions will be judged on:
- Theme: Does the submission address one of the three themes described below? We are specifically looking for creative submissions that show what it’s like to be the Jonsson School student, why your field offers many contributions to society and why the Josson School students should be connected to one another.
- The Jonsson School student experience: What is it like to be an the Jonsson School student here at UTD? What is something humorous you and your fellow students can relate to?
- The importance of engineers and computing professionals in our society: What role do engineers and computing professionals play in our society and why is it so important students are seeking out these careers?
- The importance of community and belonging within the Jonsson School: What does it feel like to ‘belong’ in the Jonsson School? Why is it important to seek out community with students and others?
- Originality: Was the submission created specifically for this contest and free of any copyright or ethical (e.g. plagiarism) violations?
- Creativity: Does the submission take an interesting and novel approach to conveying the theme?
- Humor and Cleverness: Does the submission contain a humorous element? Does the submission call attention to an issue in a humorous way instead of critical/negative way? Does the submission contain a play on words or subverts expectations? While humor cannot be objectively quantified, it is an important part of a meme.
- Positivity towards the Jonsson School: Not everything is gloom and doom! Does your submission contain a positive element about the Jonsson School, the field of engineering and computer science, or community and belonging? Does your submission reframe a negative into a positive?
